Analogueworks TT2 turntable
The British firm Analogueworks proudly explains that its turntable designs leverage design concepts pioneered by the late Tom Fletcher of Nottingham Analogue Systems fame. Now, the Analogueworks product range comprises three turntables, with the top model being the lovely TT2 shown here. The TT2 incorporates a massive 8kg platter, plus a beefed-up variant on the original Nottingham Wave Mechanic power supply, with a selling price of £3,000.

Turntable Two (or “TT Two”) is Analogueworks’ finest turntable. The TT Two is a rather substantial turntable yet takes up the same amount of rack space as the TT Zero and TT One. As with its brethren the TT Two features much of what AnalogueWorks’ turntable design philosphy is based upon: constrained layer dampened, ultra strong birch ply plinth; custom weight dependant anti-resonance feet; precision, over-engineered platter bearing; massive precision-manufactured aluminum platter with special anti-resonance mat; low torque, low resonance motor in massive free-standing pod; high-grade linear power supply, in the case of the TT-2 their reference WM Two; the ability to choose your favorite tonearm should you wish (shown here with the exellent Design Build Listen The Wand, and a walnut-veneered top and bottom plinth); and an English-made heritage. The TT Two features an over engineered leaded bronze platter bearing mated to a massive platter and plinth. These structureal upgrades are also found on the TT One and TT One-Twelve, though on the TT Two they are taken to an even more extreme level in terms of mass and/or thickness. With the addition of their finest power supply the Wave Mechanic Two, which generates a clean and stable AC signal, the Turntable Two could be considered AnalogueWorks’ “reference” turntable. At HFS we’d say it can be considered amongst the finest turntables at any price, though as with all AnalogueWorks products it is remarkably affordable.
