The Perfect-Surface technology applied to silver of extremely high purity delivers unprecedented dynamic clarity and contrast. Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) is AudioQuest’s highest-quality conductor metal.
Solid conductors prevent interaction between strands, a major source of cable distortion. The extremely pure Perfect-Surface Silver minimizes distortion caused by grain boundaries present in every metal conductor, almost entirely eliminating harshness and significantly improving clarity compared with OFHC, OCC, 8N, and other copper alloys.
**Hard-Cell Foam Insulation**
Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) insulation ensures the critical geometry of the signal pair.
Any solid material next to a conductor effectively becomes part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and printed circuit board materials all absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and subsequently released as distortion.
Hard-Cell Foam insulation is similar to the expanded PE used in our more affordable Bridges & Falls cables and is injected with nitrogen to create air pockets. Because nitrogen, like air, does not absorb energy and therefore does not release energy to or from the conductor, distortion is reduced.
In addition, the stiffness of the material allows the conductors within the cable to maintain a stable relationship over the entire length of the cable. This results in consistent impedance characteristics and further minimizes distortion.
