Its standout feature is immense power—delivering 200W of continuous output across any impedance load—which ensures exceptional dynamics and control. A color touchscreen displays available inputs and configuration settings, as well as the unit's status and operational modes. A dedicated Boulder app controls the 866 and manages custom configuration changes, such as adding source photos to the inputs shown on the front panel. The app allows for full control of the unit, including volume and input adjustments. A standard remote control is also included, operating via a USB connection. The manufacturer states that "improvements in internal production efficiency have elevated the 866's sound quality to an incredible level compared to previous integrated amplifiers." A new protection circuit enables the 866 to deliver higher current at maximum power without risking damage to the amplifier's electronics. The analog-plus-digital version of the 866 includes USB, Ethernet, S/PDIF, and Toslink digital inputs, along with Roon integration and wireless streaming via Apple AirPlay.
