The Audio Space Houston Mini 1998 (also widely known as the Houston Mini 1998+ SE) is a rare, ultra-compact integrated tube amplifier manufactured in the late 1990s by Audio Space / Top International Ltd. It gained a cult following in the audiophile community for its distinctive "vintage desk clock" aesthetic, incredibly small footprint, and high-fidelity performance.

Technical Specifications:
• Power Output: 2 x 13 Watts (Ultra-Linear, Class AB Push-Pull).
• Tube Complement: 2 x 12AX7 (ECC83) for the pre-amp stage and 4 x EL84 (6BQ5) for the power stage.
• Output Impedance: 4 to 16 Ohms.
• Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): < 1% (20 Hz - 20 kHz).
• Signal-to-Noise Ratio (S/N Ratio): > 93 dB.
• Dimensions: 155 x 162 x 115 mm (Approx. 6 x 6 x 4.5 inches).
• Weight: 7.6 kg (Combined unit and outboard power supply).

Sonic Performance & Characteristics:
According to long-term owner reviews on AudioReview, the Houston Mini delivers a surprisingly grand performance:
• Classic EL84 Sound: It yields a warm, sweet mid-range, open soundstaging, and liquid musicality that makes vocals and acoustic instruments shine.
• Deceptive Bass Response: Despite its low wattage, it provides punchy, tight low-end control when paired with efficient bookshelf speakers or high-sensitivity floorstanders.
• Affordable Maintenance: Because EL84 and 12AX7 tubes are among the most commonly produced tubes in the world, replacing or upgrading them is highly affordable.
• Trade-offs: It lacks the razor-sharp absolute transparency of modern solid-state amps and rolls off slightly at the extreme high frequencies.
