The Ikeda 9GSS is high-end at its best. A completely uncompromising pickup that brings out the best in your vinyl records, guaranteeing fantastic sound for many years to come without triggering the urge to try to upgrade.
Ikeda has spent several years developing and refining the 9GSS, the latest layer ship model from the Japanese manufacturer. Here is a pickup that plays with the absolute best on the market and where the price is actually, in that light, reasonable.
The internal construction is made with an upper base and a center column that are independently designed and subsequently precision assembled by hand. By combining different types of materials in the construction, you have complete control over vibrations and mechanical noise, thereby giving the needle the absolute best working conditions.
The upper base is made of solid Titanium that is milled out of a block, and then treated and polished one by one. Subsequently, it is gold-plated on top of a Rhodium treatment. Even the outer part is milled out of a block of aluminum, and receives the same type of surface treatment.
Everything is assembled and "pressed" to provide optimal conditions when the music is to play. The surface treatment is identical to that given to brass instruments, to ensure the absolute best sound reproduction, as it has a great influence on mechanical noise and resonance.
The stylus itself is made of Square Diamond, which is Ikeda's own unique grinding. The magnet system is based on neodymium magnets and the stylus tip is made of Boron, which is superior in terms of oscillation.
