OFFERED IS A SET OF SPEAKERS FROM THE RENOWNED BRAND KROMA. IN 2025, KROMA WON BEST SOUND AT THE HIGH-END IN MUNICH.
**A bit of technical detail**
In the Elektra, Kroma Audio uses four 6.5-inch Scan Speak Revelator units for the mid and low frequencies. The distinctive, gold-colored tweeter is from Scan Speak. The gold-colored tweeter can be found on the front and rear. Kroma Audio calls it the Hiquphone tweeter. Notably, this is a soft dome with a very wide frequency range and no roll-off beyond 20 kHz.
The crossover is constructed in a separate chamber. Furthermore, various types of wood have been used, adapted to the internal chamber. In combination with the units, the Krion, and the high-quality crossover (including components from Duelund), an extremely neutral, smooth sound has been achieved. And the loudspeaker is easy to drive. We understood from Ben van Lelieveld that the dip lies around 6 ohms and that the efficiency is 90dB (even slightly better). This makes this rather substantial and, above all, heavy (170kg!) loudspeaker drivable with a modest tube power amplifier.
The sound
This Kroma Audio Electra plays truly BIG. Room-filling. And very effortlessly. But the system also takes proportions into account. A vocalist is not as big as a grand piano. And vice versa, of course. It remains in proportion.
In addition, we hear that the Electra possesses a delightful suppleness and neutrality. No cabinet resonances, directly traceable coloration, or distortion. Very pleasant. Very clean… and very musical.
Furthermore, this loudspeaker effortlessly reveals the characteristics of a recording. Live sounds live. Small and intimate is presented as small and intimate. And bombastic and dynamic… you get the picture. This sounds very self-evident, but it isn't. Just go and listen closely to various large systems at a show. Often everything sounds big. Even the small details. Not with this Kroma Audio. It is a speaker as a speaker should be: a conduit for music. And that is – strangely enough – quite special.
