Volumio Primo network player. Latest model. Exchanged it about a month ago for an espresso grinder at an authorized dealer (Live Fidelity) that I know well (without an invoice!). Shared hobbies
The Primo can be used as a streamer in combination with an external DAC (via USB or S/PDIF) or as a network player via the excellently implemented internal DAC.
In both cases, the Primo sounds very good. Just read the many positive reviews, including those from Alpha Audio. The sound quality can be further improved by upgrading the 5V power adapter. Consider, for example, an Sbooster or iFi iPower Elite. Or better yet, add another switch between the Primo and your router, and the party is complete.
I personally tested the Primo out of curiosity for about a week or two. I mainly used the analog coaxial output in combination with an iFi iPower Elite and a nice linear power supply from Pura Powersupplies, the Dodo. I can only say that the Primo sounds very good. It doesn't quite reach the level of my Lindemann Limetree Bridge v2 plus Merason Frerot DAC, but it comes close. Impressive performance considering the Limetree/Primo combination also costs three times as much. In short, the Primo is ready to go.
The free Volumio app is not as polished as BluOS, but it's functional, and popular services like Qobuz, Tidal, and web radio are integrated. Alternatively, the streamer can be controlled using a UPnP app like BubbleUPnP. Hans Beekhuzen has an episode on his YouTube channel where he discusses the Volumio app. Volumio continuously improves its functionality.
So, the Primo is practically as good as new, including the original packaging. The current retail price is 799 euros. I am asking 425 euros (not lower so pls no unreasonable offers!).
I can offer the Primo together with an iFi iPower Elite 5V power supply with all the accesories and the original box. See picture. The Elite is a definite upgrade compared to the stock power adapter. The current retail price is 299 euro. I am asking 625 euros for the combination with Primo (not lower so pls no unreasonable offers!).
