YBA Signature Mono Amplifier: exceptional amplifiers

After 23 years of lifespan (an exceptional longevity in the world of High Fidelity), the first generation of Signature power amplifier has given way to this second generation.

This includes the ingredients that have made this range world famous.

The symmetrical layout and internal components have been reproduced identically, but it is the chassis which benefits from a major advance. This is machined from a single block of aluminum.

As a result, no part is separated, not even the facade, this being integrated into the aluminum block.

This unique machined part also allows for a separate power supply, integrated directly into the chassis.

Below, we find the three feet typical of YBA electronics: two damped feet at the rear and a hard foot at the front, playing the role of vibration evacuator.

Inside, we find a topology typical of Yves-Bernard André's creations with two double C grain-oriented transformers, composed of multiple 50 micron strips intertwined with each other and coated with insulating varnish, the whole being impregnated under empty and cooked at 100° for 48 hours. The advantages of this technique are the elimination of microphonic effects, the creation of a perfect and completely passive mains filter and reduced distortion.

The transformer is mounted in suspension.

The power supply therefore emits no noise or vibration.

The transistors are mounted on solid aluminum with mica wafers to ensure extremely low thermal fluctuations.

The circuit used in this YBA amplifier is completely symmetrical, which cancels faults introduced by the power supply, minimizes parasitic ground currents and avoids the need for passive components in the signal path.

The complementary double differential input stage is followed by a control stage whose role is to adapt the impedance and amplify the voltage.

Then a final stage completes the amplification destined for the output stage.

The circuit routing has been designed to minimize the signal path between components and connections, reducing input and output wiring lengths to a minimum.

On the front, a VU meter overlooking an illuminated Signature stamped background gives the most beautiful effect to this mono power unit.

At the rear, the mono RCA and XLR inputs allow you to connect the preamplifier, the YBA Signature Pre Amplifier being its ideal partner. A pair of stereo terminal blocks allows for bi-wiring, if necessary.

Now let's let the numbers speak: 1 x 400 Watts at 8 Ohms and 1 x 800 Watts at 4 Ohms.
