For sale Zanden Audio Model 5000 MkIV DAC. Second-hand (very good shape). Non-oversampling 16-bit 44.1kHz DAC. One of the three or four most musical DACs ever built, along with the Stax X1T, Mark Levinson 30, and 35.
Uses the highly regarded Philips TDA1541-A double crown chip.
3 digital inputs: S/PDIF (2 RCA, 1 BNC), AES/EBU.
Power supply (two 6CA4 and one 6XA) and output stage (one 6922) are tube-based.
Price new was: $12,000 USD.
Comes with packaging (not original), one Halide design USB/SPDIF adapter (allows connection to a computer for listening with Audirvana, for example, or to a USB CD transport/ripper), one set of tubes, and one very rare Philips 1541-A double crown chip. Selling due to system simplification and various upgrades. Combined sale with C.E.C. TL0X transport is possible (price is 10 000€ with JPS Labs Aluminata S/Pdif cable free, original wooden crate for C.E.C. TL0X).
