Marantz Mint Condition UD9004 Flagship Universal Player

Up for sale is a mint condition example of the Marantz UD9004, the cost-no-object, flagship univsersal player from Marantz. Released in 2009, the 19 kilo beast plays basically every silver disc (CD, SACD, DVD, DVD-A, Blu Ray, Blu-Ray Audio) plus high resolution files by means of its SD card player, to absolute world class standards. Relaxed, warm, tactile, incredibly detailed sound from any format - basically the same sonic signature as te brand's top of the range SACD players, but with first rate video playback thrown in.

I have two of those players, one in my main music system and one in a dedicated home theater room. I am keeping the latter as I am merging systems - as the UD9004's video performance on ANY format except 4K (which it doesn't do) is unbeateble. I have compared it with Oppo BDP 103, BDP 105, UDP 203, UDP 205, Reavon UBX 200 and others - it is BY FAR the best video player of all in sheer video quality (definition, depth, color vibrancy etc). I also kept the Reavon for 4K purposes mostly, but I still play standard DVDs and Blu Rays from the UD, and in many cases find a Blu Ray on the UD to look superior to a 4K remaster played on the Reavon. It's a region 2 / B player.

The unit comes in its original box with manual and remote. The drive unit was replaced a few years ago by JVB digital who did a stellar job of it (the replacement drive is an original NOS UD9004 drive). Both the unit itself and the remote are in near-perfect condition, with a couple of hardly noticeable blemishes. Be warned, this is a notoriously slow-loading and finicky drive - except with SACDs, which load instantly. But when it's done loading - it'll treat you to truly world class, audiophile sound.
