Description
PS Audio PerfectWave BHK Signature 250 power amplifier, mint condition, original packaging and manual included, black finish, purchased new in September 2022 from italian dealer.
A stereo power amplifier that holds a prominent position in contemporary high-fidelity audio. Designed by the legendary engineer Bascom H. King (hence the BHK moniker).
Tube Input Stage: It utilizes a pair of hand-selected triode tubes operating in Class A.
MOSFET Output Stage: The signal is then delivered to a high-current MOSFET power stage. King chose MOSFETs because, unlike bipolar transistors, their operating curve is more similar to that of vacuum tubes, delivering power and control without sacrificing musicality.
Key Technical Specifications:
Power Output: Delivers 250 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms and doubles to 500 Watts into 4 Ohms. It remains stable even into demanding 2-Ohm loads.
Through-Hole Construction: Unlike most modern equipment using Surface Mount Devices (SMD), the BHK 250 is built entirely with through-hole components and hand-soldered connections—a choice dictated solely by the pursuit of maximum sonic fidelity.
Separate Power Supplies: Features independent transformers and regulation circuitry for the input and output stages, minimizing interference.
Inputs: Equipped with both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs.
Outputs: Dual pairs of gold-plated, solid copper binding posts (CNC-machined by PS Audio), ideal for bi-wiring.
