Description
For sale is a renowned STAX SRS-4040 Signature electrostatic headphone system in perfect working order.
I am the first and only owner. I purchased the system brand new in June 2001. It has seen very little use throughout its life and has been meticulously stored in a smoke-free environment.
The base price includes:
- STAX SR-404 Signature electrostatic earspeakers.
- STAX SRM-006t valve driver unit (with RCA 6FQ7/6CG7 tubes currently installed, in excellent health).
- Original STAX clear plastic protective cover (essential for dust protection).
- Original factory box for the SRM-006t amplifier only.
Condition & Packaging Note: The outer leather of the currently installed earpads is in perfect cosmetic condition. However, due to age, the internal foam in the center has degraded/crumbled.
This is a well-known issue with older Stax pads, which is why I have already purchased the official, newly redesigned replacements (see below).
Please note that I no longer have the original box for the SR-404 headphones.
OPTIONAL BUNDLE - MAINTENANCE & ACCESSORY PACK FOR JUST €180:
For the buyer of the system (or available separately), I offer a complete package of original spares and accessories (total retail value is much higher):
- Brand New STAX EP-234BR (Brown) Earpads: Brand new and factory sealed. Bought recently directly from Japan for €140 (very hard to find in Europe). Note: This is the latest upgraded version by STAX, which permanently fixes the old issue by completely eliminating the internal foam and replacing it with a durable mesh/sock-like fabric.
- Original STAX Factory-Supplied Vacuum Tubes: These are the original stock tubes that came with the amplifier. They are still in good working condition and are safely stored inside the RCA boxes shown in the photos (perfect as backup spares).
- High-quality original STAX RCA analog interconnect cable.
