Description
I'm selling a Temaad Audio "Merlin Magnesium" 12.5" damped unipivot tone arm, with upgraded silver wiring.
The maker of the arm is based in New Zealand (active on Lencoheaven.net and elsewhere).
The condition of the arm is very good. However, the hardwood part of the accompanying tone arm rest has developed a crack, which I've fixed in utilitarian fashion (please see pics). The arm will come with an extra shim to for use with low compliance cartridges (in my case a Denon 103R). I also have quite a bit of damping silicone left which I will include.
Effective length: 318mm
Mounting distance 307mm
Effective mass 18g
Cartridge weight accepted: 5-16g
Adjustable height, depending on platter, 25-75mm.
The arm is designed to sit on a separate arm pod /base.
I bought the arm directly from the manufacturer in November 2021 & used it for nearly three years (till I bought a Supatrac Blackbird). To my ears it sounded better than most of my previous arms: Rega RB300, Audiomods V, Cartridgeman Conductor. This is obviously cartridge-dependent, the 18g effective mass is not suitable for high compliance MM carts like Deccas or the Cartridgeman Music Maker III. My main point of reference for the purposes of comparison was a Shure SC35 (with a Shibata stylus). The arm has great poise & authority, though at 12.5" it is not as nimble as a 9" Hadcock 228, which I also like (horses for courses).
I'm based in Estonia. In terms of establishing my bona fides, I could do this as a longtime member of a number of hifi sites in the UK and elsewhere, as well as Ebay.
