The APL DSD-SR SE is the Special Edition refinement of APL’s acclaimed all-solid-state DSD-SR DAC, designed for digital purists seeking vinyl-inspired naturalness combined with cutting-edge DSD conversion technology. It sits near the top of APL’s Illumi-Fi range, directly below their flagship DSD-MR reference converter.
The DSD-SR SE is a handmade boutique digital-to-analog converter engineered for ultra-natural and analog-like performance. It is a fully solid-state, pure DSD architecture where all incoming PCM signals are converted to DSD (up to DSD256) before analog conversion. A Class-A, transformer-coupled output stage, zero-feedback design, and Femto-master clock system ensure signal purity and lifelike imaging. The SE version introduces a new DSD modulator, new DAC and input boards, and upgraded power supplies, yielding even greater transparency and musical realism.
