The dCS Rossini Player is an ultra-high-end reference all-in-one digital source that integrates a D/A converter, a Red Book CD transport mechanism, a network streamer, and a digital preamplifier into a single chassis.
Architecture and Conversion (Original Ring DAC™)
• Proprietary Ring DAC™: Features the classic version of the discrete-component conversion board controlled via dCS proprietary FPGA (prior to the APEX hardware revision introduced in 2022).
• Processing and Upsampling: 5-bit mapping at 2.8224 MHz or 3.07 MHz. Allows user-selectable upsampling of the data stream to DXD (24-bit / 352.8 or 384 kHz) or DSD64 / DSD128.
• Selectable Filters: Offers 6 customizable digital filters for PCM playback and 4 dedicated filters for DSD format, allowing fine-tuning of high-frequency response and impulse response.

Architecture and Technology
• Dual Quartz Oscillator: Integrates two distinct oven-controlled crystal oscillators (OCXO). One crystal is dedicated exclusively to the 44.1 kHz frequency family (CD, DSD, 88.2 kHz, 176.4 kHz, 352.8 kHz), while the other manages the 48 kHz family (48, 96, 192, and 384 kHz).
• Precision Thermal Control: Microcontrollers within the circuitry maintain the crystals at a constant temperature, eliminating frequency drifts caused by ambient thermal variations.
• Integrated Auto-Clocking: When connected to the Word Clock BNC inputs of the Rossini DAC/Player, the system automatically switches to the correct clocking frequency based on the format of the track being played.
