A pair of Jeff Rowland Model 201 monoblock power amplifiers in pristine condition. This landmark design redefined the application of switching amplification in High-End audio.
Far removed from standard implementations, these monoblocks stand out for their chassis, entirely CNC-machined from a solid block of aircraft-grade aluminum. This structure is not merely aesthetic (featuring the famous millimetric optical-refraction faceplate), but creates a fully shielded chamber layout against RFI/EMI interference. At the same time, it ensures optimal damping of structural mechanical resonances and superb passive heat dissipation.
Technical Architecture and Circuitry
The Model 201 features a sophisticated amplification section based on ICEpower® 500ASP modules, deeply re-engineered by Jeff Rowland.
Proprietary Input Stage: The incoming signal is processed by custom, ultra-linear coupling transformers. These guarantee total galvanic isolation, an extremely high Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR), and perfect impedance matching with any preamplifier (both tube and solid-state).
Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS): Highly regulated and stabilized at high speed, it is capable of delivering extremely high instantaneous current to follow the most complex dynamic transients, without the classic voltage sags typical of traditional linear power supplies.
Damping Factor and Control: The MECC (Multiloop Enhanced Cascade Control) feedback loop corrects the distortions typical of switching output stages directly at the load, ensuring a high and linear damping factor across the entire audio band. The result is absolute control over the low-frequency range and total mastery over the impedance curves and phase rotations of even the most demanding loudspeakers.
