Beschreibung
Up for sale is a top condition example of the Marantz AV7005 audiophile home theater preamp & processor.
I am the first owner and the unit was setup in my dedicated home theater room and rack in a smoke-free home. I chose it in preference to the more expensive AV 8003 at the time which in comparison to the incredible dynamics and wraparound quality of the sound produced by the 7005 felt slow and sluggish, after extensive side by side comparison and professional setup. Up until last year it fed the Marantz MM8003 power amp I still use in the same home theater. Only reason for selling is I finally took the step to 4K sources and projection.
The AV 7005 has been extensively reviewed and is famous for being by far the best value for money of all top flight HT processors in its day. It sounds incredible - open, fast and dynamic but also harmonically rich and meaty, typical of the Marantz high end sound also found in their stereo analogue equipment.
As a home theater amp it performs extremely well. The flexibility of its connections means you can hook up a complete system to it. Video upscaling to 1080P is top flight, and the pairing with my Sony VPL VW 80 was amazingly cinematic. The sound strikes the perfect balance between the power, dynamics, speed, spatialization and detail you'd want for a top level cinema experience - with a truly audiophile grade level of naturalness to the tones and eq balance. I also used to run it in full analogue, process-bypass mode to play vinyl from a state of the art Townshend Rock 2 turntable with Excalibur arm and Music Master cartridge, through a Heed 2-box preamp - and it sounded absolutely wonderful there as well, with the sort of balance between "truth" and "fun" you'd expect from an expensive hybrid preamp. This is not hyperbole - my main system is all Brinkmann (Marconi and Monos) - so my ears are tuned for high end stereo listening, and I know a great sounding unit when I hear one. This is one.
The headphone amp is also very good, the built-in MM phono stage is OK but not as classy as the rest of the unit so vinyl playback will benefit from an outboard phono stage. The FM tuner is decent. The Internet tuner is top notch.
It has now been replaced with a Marantz AV7706 which has 4K capability and looks, feels and SOUNDS exactly the same otherwise, especially in analogue mode (I haven't got an Atmos setup so cannot speak t the added value of that). I've kept it in its box for a few months in case sth went wrong with the 7706, but it hasn't, and so now this needs to go.
It's also worth pointing out that this model has NONE of the major HDMI board flaws that plagued later Marantz Models. It's a workhorse on top of everything else, and will be the heart of either a dedicated Full HD home theater system, or a fantastic way for audiophiles to integrate into a high end system and complement the stereo kit with multichannel kit without any loss in quality.
220/230V unit. Complete with original box, manual, remote. See detailed specs below. It's in its box so no pictures available and i'm using a stock image. I can send a picture of the box if required. Thank you for your interest and don't hesitate to ask questions.
