Beschreibung
We are selling a hardly used SPEC RSA-F33R EX class D integrated amplifier. It is in pristine condition. It is the exhibit amp of one of our dealers and it has only been used for a few hours. SPEC's optional remote control RSR-1 is included in the sales price.
Sold with 3 months warranty.
RSA-F33R EX is the newest edition of the previous top model (RSA-F33EX) and it has a somewhat different combination of internal components than F33 (different capacitors and resistors) for a more powerful and rich sound, especially in the midrange.
The power supply uses a powerful R-core transformer and a larger bank of capacitors than the less costly models. Both the transformer, low-pass filter and output stage are shielded with steel plates to protect sensitive components, and the inner walls of the cabinet uses EMC-coating to further reduce high frequency electromagnetic noise.
As opposite to many class D designs, which uses 1-bit Delta-Sigma modulation of the signal, SPEC has chosen to use Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) followed by a low-pass filter to create an analogue signal. Hence, SPEC is correct when they claim that their amps are analogue despite being a class D design. This is a deliberate choice made by SPEC in the service of sound quality.
Another, and unique, aspect of SPEC's class D design is that the volume attenuation is done just before the output stage. The signal is not passing through the volume control as in a conventional design. Instead, the signal passes at full strength from the input stage to an electronic attenuator that is located just before the PWM circuit and low-pass filter of the class D output stage. The volume controller only provides a control signal to the attenuator. SPEC's solution provides a much higher S/N-ratio at low to moderate listening levels than conventional solutions, and even minute signals like the harmonic overtones of a violin are retained and brought forward to your speakers.
Another aspect of SPEC's class D design that differs from your typical class D amp is their low power output. RSA-F33R EX only offers 2x 60 Watt at 8 Ohm, but it doubles that into 4 Ohm (2x 120 W).
