Due to an upgrade to Gryphon Essence Mono power amplifiers and matching preamplifier, I am offering for sale my black PS Audio BHK Pre high-end stereo preamplifier together with the perfectly matching PS Audio BHK Signature S250 power amplifier, including remote control.
The PS Audio BHK Pre is a reference-level hybrid preamplifier featuring a vacuum tube input stage, offering both XLR and RCA inputs and outputs.
In spring 2024, the input stage was upgraded with NOS 12BH7A tubes from G.E., resulting in a noticeably richer, more dimensional and natural midrange presentation.
The matching BHK Signature S250 power amplifier is an exceptional hybrid design, combining a tube input stage with a MOSFET output stage. It delivers a rare combination of musicality, control, and authority, revealing its full potential especially when paired with the BHK Pre.
While I have also used the amplifier with LINN and PS Audio DirectStream DAC, the best sonic synergy was clearly achieved within the BHK pairing.
Power output:
• 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms
• 500 watts per channel into 4 ohms
• 1000 watts into 2 ohms
The hybrid topology blends the tonal richness and natural warmth of tubes with the precision, speed, and grip of MOSFETs. The result is a highly engaging, detailed, and powerful presentation with excellent control across the entire frequency range.
In spring 2024, the amplifier’s input stage was upgraded with NOS Telefunken E88CC tubes, further enhancing openness, resolution, and spatial presentation. The sound is characterized by deep, well-controlled bass, a full-bodied and expressive midrange, and refined, extended highs without any harshness.
A true heavyweight (approx. 40 kg), built to an exceptional standard and delivering outstanding sonic performance.
